oh lordy, fantastic.

I liked what each artist did with it - but especially liked the ending.
It was a very nice piece of work, and every piece was great.

Good job.

Hmmm...

I can't help but wonder if you did the break-apart-and-group-text thing for scaling like I'd suggested, or whether I was just wrong about the Flash rendering, or if it was just harder to notice tham before.

Either way, it was still fantastic (as, being the 609th person to say so, you no doubt know by now)

Haha...

Reminded me of the spammers... and I liked how his first flash, he was all reverant of it. Ooooo, aaaaaahhh...

Good work, as you likely know.

MarcyVF responds:

Haha! Thank you.

Finally!

Oh god how I've been waiting.
Now to actually watch the thing.

Pretty great, I liked how you actually showed the two stone temples, or at least gave references.
Actually, I enjoyed just about everything. Although I think I can suggest two small things to do when releasing your next one.
-Proof read your subtitles (I know there was at least one little typo in there... just the words said were in a different sentence structure, a different structure of sentence)

And, well, this next one is just because Flash kinda sucks when you're trying to motion tween text - I would recommend getting all the text right, then breaking it apart twice (so that all of the text is now just shapes), then making it a movieclip or group, so that you can tween it without the juttering.

Anyway, yeah, great job.
I can't wait for your next installment of, well, whatever. You're a good flash artist.
Keep it up!

hmmm...

It reminded me of Neon Genesis... now I have to go drink some bleach to forget about that series (or rather, the end of that series)

Your work, however, was good. A pretty funny parody of, well, for me, how general animes or mangas go about getting kids to fly giant mechs.

Never played the game you're actually parodying, though, so I can't comment on how that works =(

Galneda responds:

It wasn't until last year that I finally saw all of Evangelion...man that ending was a let-down...but I couldn't help but notice the parallels between Shinji (a reluctant child hero piloting a Giant Robot to save a city and the world) and Leo (a reluctant child hero piloting a Giant Robot to save a space colony and....the worlds...)

So I had the intention of throwing in little NERV references around, but I think the only one that survived after the cut (it was originally going to be twice as long as this) is if you look really closely during the scene where Leo first discovers Jehuty (right after the explosion + Hangar 18 sign) there's a NERV logo watermark in-between the two beams on the wall (next to the giant, hanging blue cord)

I'd think if you dig mech's, you'll have a newfound respect for Orbital Frames and Jehuty when you play ZOE 2nd Runner...very fun, very challenging, cinematic game. It's worth a shot, y'know?

Anyway! I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the review!

hmmm...

first thing when submitting a stick flash - make sure it's great.
I mean, people see sticks and they go "oh. Sticks."
From here on out, you're in for a tough ride with the audience.

I suppose the following tips may help:
-this one works in general - make sure your background is on a background layer, and, if you're using sticks, you might just want to make a simple, but nice looking background. This whole paint-brush tool thing you're doing... well, it doesn't work for ME at any rate. I would prefer lines with a few light gradients towards the edges for highlights, anyday.
-make sure the animation is fluent, or at least well done. People don't mind less frames if the actual drawing or stances make sense. This is especially important for stick animations, as people will be thinking "come on, you could have drawn more frames for that, jeez, they were JUST stick figures!"

This is one that I would highly recommend in the case of using many characters on one screen.
-make your world a living, breathing thing. Don't have static characters that do nothing, and I mean NOTHING, until the stick character comes and attacks them. Have them smoking a cigarette, or just talking lightly with another stick figure (miming, of course... you don't want to take the attention away from the main stick character)

It makes the animation as a whole look a lot more interesting.

For a first animation, as a test of your current abilities, I can say "well, you've got basic animation down."

Do you know how to tween? Or Motion tween? Or how to use movieclips or graphic symbols? If not, I'd suggest looking up on them (well, when you're ready to move on from stick figures, anyway)

Good luck with that.

I'll give this a 5/10, 2/5... passable (compared to many other things on this site...) but not very great. I do, however, look forward to seeing what you might do in the future.

woohooyeee responds:

thanks, i understand the low score, its fine with me, im still trying to smooth things out with the sequel, im kinda busy though, but ill work on it soon

Haha, great.

A pretty great flash joke preview.
Haven't seen much of you guys in a while, I'll have to check you out again.

I loved the "another day" and "decline of video gaming" series.

In other news, I think the decline has continued somewhat... many games that are pure clones of previous games... zzz.

Oh well.

It was good, it was great

the kind of thing you love or hate.
Good work, but check the date!
It's now January, mate!

The timeline here has me confused,
but your story has me amused!
Animation good, dialogue used,
but could be better, if you... choosed.

perhaps...

this will be an even greater inspiration...
We must see this epic battle brought to life!

FOR STEVE!

Sidorio responds:

FOR FREEDOM!

oooooooh...

I feel some more of that inspiration coming on!
Or am I aroused?
Only time will tell...

Sidorio responds:

You have a raging boner.
