Excellent track - if you don't mind, I have made use of this track in a game I'm making for University in Unity. Brilliant music, and it gets in my head nicely. Most notably, it's a GOOD, catchy, looping song, with a distinctive melody and harmony I can really get behind.

The game is a Raiden-esque game, by the way. Just open some Raiden gameplay footage in Youtube, mute it, and play this music, and you'll see why I used it.

K-Pone responds:

I don't mind if you use it. Feel free to do so. Unfortunately I can't really watch pretty much any video on the internet as my bandwith is limited right now (on a normal non-mobile connection btw).

Bah!

Damn lullaby is working.

Probably a bad choice of song to listen to when about to engage on an epic journey through Newgrounds' Audio Portal at 3AM.

I think I'm going to go to bed nmkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkk

VGSongbird responds:

lol an "epic journey".... love it ^_^

Thanks for listening!

Doesn't quite work as a loop!

The theme of holding the line is a good one, and you do get the sort of action across.

However I think this is more likely to see credits than anything just because you can't really use it as a loop - you add instruments to it that aren't there at the start, for looping songs you want something that goes like this:

---====##########==--
so that when looped it goes ---====##########==-----====#########
#==-- in a smooth transition.

What yours does is more like this

----=====##########
and it ends up abruptly being quiet again with little to no smooth transition or link between the start and the end of the song.

Still good, but perhaps you should have just made a full song. :S

Cirrow responds:

I didn't really give it any thought, as my intention wasn't to get this used in games or anything, just for feedback, so I've never considered what you've said. That's really helpful! Thanks for the info and review!

eh, you did what you wanted to do

but I much prefer the original - and what you've managed is to get the notes and timing all fairly correct, I just don't really like your instrument choice.

This 7/10 is completely biased and opinionated, but then, aren't all reviews?

Good work getting the timing/pitch right, though.

SinZLazTWordZ responds:

Honestly.... This was done a while back and i believe all i did was add a kick and hi-hat to it... Messed with the mixer a bit.... But now i feel like it could have been ALOT better. But if you really wanna hear some interesting Zelda Stuff, Look up my Ultimate Zelda Mix... Alot better...

Ziggy

it has a good feel to it.

I enjoyed listening to it for the 2:40.

I like making flashes that respond to the music (although I've only submitted one so far...) - this one has just been added to my ever-growing list of "songs that I should make a flash to"

Although it's a little sporadic in its instrument use at times.

dicennian responds:

Thanks for reviewing! Sure you can use my song on your flash videos. I would love that!

I think I will take your advice.

This does have a lot higher quality in general sound recording, and your guitar has improved since the other one.

Not only that, but it's a good two minutes shorter (which means I would have to animate a LOT less frames)

Now I just have to come up with an idea for what to animate, although I suppose it will just end up being some huge fight involving Pico somehow.

You'll likely see the submission get, well, submitted, on Pico Day.

SlaveLabor responds:

Awesome, I seriously can't wait. Yea, this one of my better works...of... doing a cover, my original work is much better than the other crap I uploaded. I just need to get a new guitar for the time being, my one died (the neck broke off D:) As soon as I do more will come.

Thanks for the review

I was a little disappointed, but

I did like what you did with it.

I was sorta hoping for the whole melody from the 8 soundstones, but I guess you went with the melody from the Super Smash Brothers Melee game, rather than the one from Earthbound itself...

I played that game all the way through to Gargaj, that tricky bastard... finally figured out how to damage him heavily, but even after I'd hit him for far, FAR over 9000, with the prayers from Onett, he still wouldn't go down.

Man that brings me back... I may just make a flash of the whole game story using this music, though. Would be fun reliving that game.

ZOMGBIE responds:

Thanks for the review. Sorry to disappoint, but this was the Eight Melodies from the very first Mother on the NES. The game we know as Earthbound is Mother 2. But the first was brought to the US on the GBA and called Earthbound 0. I'm not sure if you knew that or not, but I apologize for the confusion.

This gave me an idea for a halloween submission...

Mind if I use it?
Apart from that, I do like it. Is good travelling music... perhaps even, RISING music :O

kingj4life3 responds:

sure man go for it more the better thanx for listening

Hmmm...

I agree with HalcyonicFalconX.
As a loop, it shouldn't have any part that signifies as an end or a beginning.
Methinks you're too used to making full songs :P

Pixelsaur responds:

Very true. If you look at my other songs, this is evident, haha.

sorry, sorry, but

all I could think of at the start was Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I continued listening and I enjoy it as a piece of pirate-styled music ambient sea noises.

Cydrius responds:

Hehe, Prince of Bel Air, I hadn't noticed the similarity. Thanks for the review!
